Background
Lisa Capper’s career began at the age of 17, when she first stepped into the world of criminal and family law. What started as an early introduction to the legal profession has grown into 27 years of dedicated experience as a specialist costs draftsperson, working across some of the most demanding and high profile areas of law.
Throughout her career, Lisa has case worked on high profile criminal and family law cases, as well as actions against the police, preparing detailed cost case plans and drafting bills of costs across criminal law, Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) matters, and civil and family court proceedings. Between 2007 and 2010, she served as head cost drafter for Garratts Solicitors, where she drafted detailed assessment bills and regularly attended costs hearings in the family court.
In 2015, she took the step of establishing her own legal consultancy, which she ran successfully until 2024, building a wide and loyal client base nationwide. During this time, she conducted Proceeds of Crime cases with a combined benefit figure exceeding £22 million, alongside preparing detailed bills in the Court of Protection. Her work has involved close liaison with the Senior Courts Costs Office (SCCO), filing and tracking the progress of bill assessments to ensure smooth and timely outcomes for clients.
She has had the privilege of working with leading firms, including Hugh Jones Solicitors and A&M Bacon (part of the Frenkel Topping Group), within the Court of Protection. Her case history also includes full case preparation for the Oldham Riots cases, one of the largest multi-defendant matters heard in the Crown Court, alongside a number of other leading cases which she is unable to name due to client confidentiality.
