Ben is a qualified Costs Lawyer with over 7 years of legal costing experience primarily specialising in commercial work for City Law firms. He also has experience in personal injury, clinical negligence and defamation work.
Ben has been involved in the phone hacking costs litigation which presented many novel and complex questions to costs recovery. He has worked on a wide range of cases in several jurisdictions to include the Cayman and British Virgin Islands.
Ben is also proficient in representing costs claims in a number of different courts, whether it be in the High Court, Court of Appeal or Supreme Court or tribunals.
Current Role & Responsibilities
Ben is a Costs Lawyer and a Legal Director with Kain Knight (City) Ltd. He moved from another large City based costs firm and has over 7 years of experience in dealing with all aspects of legal costs.
Ben works with a variety law firms to include commercial law firms, niche firms and in-house legal departments. He is skilled in preparing Bills of Costs (to include the new electronic Bill of Costs), Costs Budgets, Points of Dispute/Reply as well as appearing at court as an advocate at a CCMC or detailed assessment.
Education & Qualifications
Ben became a Costs Lawyer of the Association of Costs Lawyers in May 2018 prior to which he had already obtained an LLB Law degree at Essex University and completed his Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School.
Interests
Ben enjoys playing a number of sports to include football, squash and cricket. He has recently taken up playing golf and has lost numerous balls to the bushes and water. He enjoys travelling and has explored Central America by spending over three months volunteering in Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Panama.
