2023 – a Year in Review
As 2023 draws to a close, we wanted to reflect on what an incredibly busy year this has been for Kain Knight’s growing team. As the country’s leading firm of costs lawyers, Kain Knight are committed to excellence in everything that they do and 2023 has been no exception.
The Kain Knight team have attended many of the industry’s events and conferences including; the APIL Advanced Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Conference, The Legal Futures Housing Disrepair conference, the SCIL conference, the APIL annual Clinical Negligence conference, The Legal Futures Personal Injury conference and the AvMA Court of Protection conference. It’s safe to say that the pink water bottles have been a hit with everyone this year!
As well as attending events, Kain Knight have also been supporting the industry by sponsoring key events such as the Manchester Legal Awards, they were also diamond sponsors of the Commercial Litigators Forum for the year and headline sponsor of the fundraising event Agloha in October. Kain Knight have also enjoyed writing a monthly legal column for the Manchester Messenger in 2023.
Kain Knight also take pride in supporting their clients, and have hosted monthly client training seminars, to share their knowledge and expertise with clients up and down the country. The team have also supported ARAG with their seminar programme this year, speaking at many of their events.
To help their clients and the wider market get to grips with the introduction of Fixed Recoverable Costs, in October, Kain Knight launched an innovative concept called FRCConnect. The development of FRCConnect was the brainchild of Kain Knight Director, Nick McDonnell, who wanted to provide a central resource where likeminded lawyers could come together and find answers to their FRC questions and quandaries. The project involved the creation of the FRC brand along with a website for members. The innovative site hosts chat forums, webinars, a noticeboard for members to post questions and a bespoke intuitive FRC calculator for members to use. The platform now has over 500 members and is growing week on week. Members will soon be able to access FRCConnect via a new App that is launching in January 2024.
Kain Knight have seen their successes recognised this year by being ranked as Leading Firm in the Costs Lawyers category of the 2024 Legal 500 as well as being shortlisted for the Outstanding Case of the Year awards at the 2023 PI awards for their work on leading case Belsner v CAM Legal Services Ltd [2022]EWCA Civ 1387.
Chief Executive Office, Matthew Kain says “2023 has been a fantastic year and the business is going from strength to strength thanks to the commitment of the team and their client care. Roll on 2024!”
