Providing Pro Bono Support
Kain Knight are an active member of the Pro Bono Expert Support network, where they can be called upon to assist other legal experts with costs law issues in pro bono legal cases. Being able to offer this expertise to help those in need means a lot to the Kain Knight team.
Charity and Industry Events
- For the last few years the Kain Knight team have taken part in The London legal walk – joining 20,000 people from the legal community to raise money for the London Legal Support Trust whose funds provide access to justice.
- Kain Knight regularly sponsor charity events that raise money for the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) and the Child Brain Injury Trust (CBIT) and the Brain Injury Group (BIG)
- Kain Knight are regular attendees at the Insurance Endurance events
- Agloha – October 2023, Kain Knight were the key sponsor of this event that helped to raise money for the Child brain injury trust charity, CBIT. Kain Knight are also hosting a charity pop quiz in February 2024 with 120 people, fundraising for the Child Brain Injury Trust.
- Kain Knight take part in the Save the Children Christmas Jumper day appeal to help raise money for this very worth cause.
- Kain Knight also support their clients with their fundraising goals, and often either attend these events or provide raffle prizes to assist.
Community support from our staff
Senior Costs Lawyer, Thomas Spanyol challenged himself in July 2025, to cycle over 150 miles in less than 24 hours. In this incredible challenge, he started cycling in the evening of Saturday 20th and rode through the night to finish in Winterton-on-sea early on Sunday afternoon. Thomas has done the Dunwich Dynamo before, which is the official overnight ride from London Fields to Dunwich on the Suffolk Coast which is about 112 miles, but this time Thomas continued North along the coast into Norfolk to finish at Winterton, totaling just over 150 miles. Thomas was raising money for MND.
Senior Costs Lawyer, Richard Banks, has spent 15 years on the local primary school PTA – Fundraising Committee, 3 of which were as Chair and 4 as Vice-Chair.
During that time, he has helped to raise around £250,000 which went towards various school projects to include provision of free swimming lessons for all children, free cycle helmets for new pupils, outdoor seating and a new playground and play area for Key Stage 1 pupils as well as providing essential everyday financial support to the whole school when budgets were being cut by local government. Richard is also the school Father Christmas and during COVID he, along with other committee members, visited around 175 homes in Sawston and surrounding villages so the children could still enjoy the magic of meeting Santa. This brought much needed joy to the children and their families. He also visited each class room (adopting covid guidelines and keeping my distance) to give each child a selection box before school broke up for Christmas. Well done Richard.
