Role & Responsibilities

Chris has in excess of 26 years’ experience in dealing with all aspects of legal costs.

Chris works alongside commercial law firms, corporate entities and in-house legal departments and provides advice to funders and law firms on litigation budgets through to consultancy and representation in respect of court facing budgeting provisions and the more conventional law costs consultancy services within detailed assessment proceedings.

Chris’s specialisms include the preparation and opposition of legal costs predominantly in relation to high value commercial disputes in the United Kingdom but he has experience of dealing with costs disputes in other jurisdictions including, the Channel Islands and the BVI. Chris has provided costs advice to a well-known Third Party Funder in a multi-million pound costs dispute.

Chris has most recently been involved in significant costs disputes relating to matters before the Privy Council and the Competition Appeals Tribunal.

Chris is an accredited Mediator (having trained at the London School of Mediation) and is a skilled advocate often representing clients at court hearings predominantly at the Senior Courts Costs office. As an accredited CLSB (Costs Lawyers Standards Board) trainer Chris regular conduct seminars and talks to our clients and staff.

Education & Qualifications

Having been a Fellow of the Association of Law Costs Draftsmen since 2001 he became a Costs Lawyer of the Association of Costs Lawyers in May 2008. Chris is also an accredited mediator.

Chris is married to Amy and has three children who he says spend all his money! His two young sons are both avid Arsenal fans despite Chris’s best endeavours to persuade them to support Leicester City. Chris is also a keen runner having ran the London Marathon and participated in various other half Marathons. He also enjoys playing golf as often as possible albeit very badly.
